Army arrests 2 in CHT

TWO persons have been arrested in Nareichari and Naniachar, sources say.

In Nareichari, where a manhunt for the attackers of a BGB patrol team
is underway, the soldiers arrested Ranga Ranjan Chakma, 27, son of
Phool Raj Chakma from Meinie Dojor Para village near India-Bangladesh
border.

He was arrested during a raid at 7am today. The army also searched
each and every house in the village.

The army claim that they have found Indian currency from his house,
but it could not be independently verified.

The military operation, which began after the attack on 8 March, is
still continuing.

Naniachar
In another incident, the army have arrested Adi Shankar Chakma, 30, a
leader of the Democratic Youth Forum.

He is from Uttor Phiringi Para village in Naniachar and holds the post
of office secretary of Bandar Thana unit of the Democratic Youth
Forum.

He was arrested because he was carrying with him a coupon book for the
upcoming 1 April central council of the Youth Forum.

He has been handed over to the police after arrest.
